The best science fiction movies everyone should watch in 2019
As 2018 comes to an end we bid adieu to legendary movies such as Mortal Engines (a time when cities move on giant wheels around a desolate Earth, attacking and devouring smaller towns to replenish the necessary resources) and Aquaman (with a clearly popular choice for lead with Jason Momoa's and his brilliant role as the king of Atlantis).
From action superhero movies to fantasy and science fiction dramas, here is our pick of the most emblematic launches that will compete for our attention this year.
We begin our list with Ad Astra, in which actor Brad Pitt will embody an army engineer who decides to embark on an ambitious space mission to discover what happened to his father; an astronaut who never returned from his one-way mission to Neptune, in search of signs of extraterrestrial intelligence.
Once Brad Pitt heard about the role he was keen on becoming a part of what promises to be one of the most monumental sci fi movies of 2019.
Ad Astra, is directed by James Gray whose last project was “The Lost City of Z” and the cast will include other prominent characters like Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Donald Sutherland and Jamie Kennedy. 20th Century Fox has planned the premiere of Ad Astra for May 24, 2019 but the director is not sure he can finish it by this date.
The Indian director M. Night Shyamalan (producer of The Protected, The Sixth Sense, Multiple ...) returns with Glass, a peculiar sequel to his previous works The Protected and Multiple.
Glass focuses on security guard David Dunn (Bruce Willis) who uses his supernatural abilities to track down Kevin (James McAvoy), a disturbed man who has 24 personalities. To top things off, Samuel L. Jackson will also resume his role as Mr. Glass.

Set in an alternative 1977 in which John F. Kennedy was not killed, The Umbrella Academy focuses on the Hargreeves dysfunctional family, in which they all have supernatural abilities, such as levitation, super strength or telekinesis.
Although The Umbrella Academy may not be a name that most people are familiar with (it's not a collection of Marvel or DC comics), the actors that will bring the characters to life are: Ellen Page like Vanya Hargreeves, Tom Hopper as Luther Hargreeves (Spaceboy), Robert Sheehan as Klaus Hargreeves (The Séance), Emmy Raver-Lampman as Allison Hargreeves (The Rumor), David Castañeda as Diego Hargreeves (The Kraken), Aidan Gallagher as Number Five (The Boy) ,and Colm Feore leading the pack as the late Sir Reginald.

David Harbor will present his new version of Hellboy in 2019, and the Stranger Things star will join director Neil Marshall for what is described as a risky version of Mike Mignola's classic comics. The film uses a darker tone "to differentiate itself from Guillermo del Toro's adaptations and will be" a character piece "about Hellboy's" fight. "
While Harbor's version of Hellboy seems right, the rest of the cast also has great potential, including Milla Jovovich as the villain Queen of Blood, Ian McShane as the adoptive father of Hellboy and Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan.

The Avengers, officially titled Avengers: Endgame, will mark the end of Marvel Phase 3.
